IF you know any rising 10th - 12th graders in TX, please alert them and their parents about this EXCELLENT opportunity. You MUST ACT this week.
The Governor's School of Texas, a program for talented students, has a few slots remaining. This school is held at Lamar University in Beaumont June 14-26 (yes, 2 weeks boarding). There is a $500 activity fee and scholarships are available. Apparently, COVID-19 caused a severe drop in applicants.
This may be an opportunity even for that student with talents that aren't obvious from test scores!
If you have an interested student please quickly email the Director, Dr. Dorothy Sisk, at dorothy.sisk@lamar.edu, or call the office at (409) 880-8046. Send her the student's unofficial transcript and the parent portion of the application. She'll let you know if more is needed, as most of us don't have time to get the school counselors/teachers input.
